Allirajah Subaskaran Biography 
Allirajah Subaskaran is a British Tamil Sri Lankan entrepreneur who produces big-budget Indian Tamil movies. He is the founder and chairman of Lycamobile, launched in 2006. His Lyca Productions is based in Chennai marked its production with Vijay starrer Kaththi in 2014. Its latest venture is Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer mega budget film, 2.0. With an estimated budget of rupees 450 crore, it is the most expensive Indian film made to date. In October 2011 Lycatel was ranked 36th in the Sunday Times 250 leading mid-market private companies. Founder and Chairman of the Lycatel and Lycamobile Group of companies, Allirajah Subaskaran is a recipient of numerous achievers’ award across the globe in the past 10 years.
Allirajah Subaskaran was born on 2 March 1972 in Sri Lanka. He lost his father at the age of 10. He moved to Europe at the age of 17 from war-torn Sri Lanka to help his parents in a Paris restaurant, and then a corner shop. The family discovered that pre-paid international phone cards for immigrants like themselves to call home were among the corner shop's best-selling products. The family took up the distribution rights and started selling the cards to other shops. Later their distribution branched to Europe, the U.K. and the U.S. Subaskaran moved to the U.K. and in 2002 formed Lycatel, named after his sister Leka. It still sells calling cards to wholesalers, only a tiny part of their business empire.
In 2006, Subaskaran founded Lycamobile, a mobile virtual network operator. It was initially focused on Dutch market, and now its headquarters is at London. Now it has 15 million customers in 21 countries, competing with large mobile telecom group. Allirajah Subaskaran ventured into film production in 2014 and his first project Kaththi was a blockbuster. His second project, 2.0 is slated to release in 2018.
