Aditi Mammen Gupta Biography

Aditi Mammen Gupta is a young entrepreneur from the country who started her own company, Instar Foods. Her great grandfather started the Malayala Manorama, one of India's largest circulated newspapers, and biggest circulated regional newspaper of the country. Her grandfather started MRF Tyres and her father started Funskool. It’s no wonder she started her own food company at a very young age, and her name is listed among the top young entrepreneurs of the country.

 

She was born into a well-established business family of the country. She completed her graduation in Economics and Psychology from Sophia College in Mumbai and also did MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Birmingham. She worked for a year with ITC in their HR department as a trainee. Though she liked it first later realized that it’s not her cup of tea. She joined family company, Funskool, and worked for two years. After marriage, she decided to do something of her own.

 

Cooking is her passion and she loved cooking. She started learning more about cooking and got obsessed to it. It took 1.5 years to get a new idea to start something new related to culinary. She learnt about ingredients, emulsifiers, stabilisers etc and learnt from a relative who is a food consultant. Finally she set up her own company, Instar Foods. She had to experiment a lot to find food items, with long shelf life. They do not use any preservatives, and it’s their trade secret.

 

She started off looking for a chocolate fudge sauce, and now has more than 8 products which include different types of mayonnaise spreads, salad dressing, sticky caramel sauce etc. Her factory workers are women, and she plays a good role in women's empowerment. She started the company at the age of 27.
