Abhishek Poddar Biography 
Abhishek Poddar is an industrialist, philanthropist and art collector from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is a business executive who currently serves as the director of Sua Explosives & Accessories and the managing director of Matheson Bosanquet. He is also the Honorary Consul for Poland in Bangalore. He is associated with several art institutions, serving as an advisor or trustee, and is known for his efforts for promoting art and culture. For trading and export, he owns a wide range of products and setups. Industrial and Mining Explosives, Travel, Trading & Export, Design and Retail etc are among his interests.
Abhishek was born into a family of business people. He hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. His father Bimal Poddar is an industrialist. His schooling was done at Lamartiniere for Boys and The Doon School at Dehradun, and then he graduated from St. Xaviers College, Kolkata. His wife Radhika Sanghi is also a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur, who founded design and lifestyle store - Cinnamon. The couple has two children. Currently his family is settled in Bangalore. Known as an art collector, Abhishek and Radhika Poddar have built one of India’s most comprehensive collections of modern and contemporary art.
After completing his studies, Abhishek started his professional career with Khaitan & Co. He also worked at the Standard Chartered Bank for a while before joining family business. The family acquired a tea production company, Matheson Bosanquet, and Abhishek joined the business firm in the late 1980s. He became the Managing Director of the company in 1997, and later took over the administration charge of Sua Explosives & Accessories Private Limited, his family business. Initially into tea production and export, followed by supplies of mining explosives and accessories, he later diversified into different businesses and earned success.
