Local Transportation in Kumarakom

There are various options of transportation in Kumarakom such as buses, cars and ferries. The public buses are the cheapest means of transport and the service is offered by Kerala State Transport Corporation. Kottayam is the main city located near Kumarakom at a distance of 16 kilometers and the main bus stand is located here. You have town buses to reach all corners of the place.

Other options of local transportation in Kumarakom are to hire cabs and taxis. There are metered taxis and private cabs which you can hire based on distances, time or per day basis. The public taxis have yellow tops and are metered and reasonably priced. If you wish to travel a short distance then hiring an auto rickshaw would be a better choice.

Another important mode of transportation in Kumarakom is ferries. There are public ferries available at particular times. If you want to reach the islets in Vembanad Lake you have to avail these ferries. Public boats are available to Alapuzha, Kottayam and other nearby villages. These are really very cheap.
