Mattancherry Palace is also called Dutch Palace and is standing as an example of Hindu Art. It is a quandrangular structure built in Nalukettu style and has a courtyard in the middle. There is a small temple in its premises dedicated to Pazhayannur Bhagavati. The number of murals painted in rich warm colors speaks of the glory of the palace. The scenes of Krishna Lila are painted on the walls. The palace has a Coronation Hall where the ivory palanquin, howdah, royal umbrellas and ceremonial dresses, coins, stamps and drawings of the kings are exhibited. The Mattancherry palace was declared as the centrally protected monument in 1951.
