Nana Rao Park is also known as Company Bagh and was formerly called Memorial Well. The park is of great historical importance and many people were killed here in 1857 during the Indian rebellion. The memorial was raised to commemorate the death of people. Nana Sahib and his forces killed more than 200 British people and in their memory the park was built and the inhabitants of the city were forced to pay a huge amount for its erection as a way of punishing their negligence to help the British. There is a plant nursery inside this park at present and it also is the favorite resting place for many species of birds.
