This is a forest zoo that was conceptualized by Sir Allen who was a member of the Civil Services. It was built in 1971 as a zoo with a difference – it was also a natural habitat for the animals and the birds that are seen here. There are animals like monkeys, deers, rhinoceros, antelopes, bears, tigers, leopards and baboons among others. There are also birds like ostrich, emus, parrots, cranes and European fowls among several others.

Kanpur is also a city of temples. There are several temples that can be seen here although there are a few of them that are extremely popular for tourists and visitors. There is the ancient temple of Bhittargaon. This is built from large bricks and comes down from the Gupta period. Another temple that can be visited is that of Sree Radhakrishna. This is a popular place of worship that is also known as the JK Temple from the name of the trust that built it. There are five shrines here each dedicated to Lord Ardhanareswara, Lord Radhakrishna, Lord Lakshminarayana, Lord Narmadeshwar and Lord Hanuman. The temple is made from a marble construction and has been designed opulently with a blend of modern and traditional architecture.
