Indian Institute of Technology is an engineering college in Kanpur that was established in 1959. The IIT campus spreads over an area of about 1000 acres. It serves as the home for many species of birds. The peafowls and deer are seen within its campus. Apart from these things the institute has good sports facilities and has main stadium, cricket field, football ground, skating rink, squash courts, gymnasiums, basketball courts, badminton courts and Olympic size swimming pool.
