Yogi Babu Biography

Yogi Babu is an actor associated with Tamil entertainment industry. He was a film and television actor, best known for comic and supporting roles. Maan Karate and Yaamirukka Bayamey, both released in 2014 shot him to instant fame. He earned initial recognition in entertainment industry and a lot of fans through his debut television comedy show - Lollu Sabha, where he worked as an assistant under show’s director. The spoof comedy show made him immensely popular. Yogi Babu was one of the best finds of the show, and the others include - N. Santhanam, Swaminathan, Lollu Sabha Jeeva, Lollu Sabha Manohar, Lollu Sabha Balaji and Jangiri Madhumitha. The show gave him initial break and later several memorable comic roles on Tamil screen.

Yogi Babu was born in Vazapandal, Arni of Tamil Nadu in the year 1986. His real name is Babu. He was first spotted by director Ram Bala, when he accompanied a friend to the shoot of the comedy television series, Lollu Sabha. Very soon he entered into the show, and the show’s success changed his life forever, similar to his co-stars. The director was attracted by Babu's peculiar looks and physique, and he enquired if Babu was interested to do acting. He worked as the director’s assistant too, and helped him in writing scenes.

Babu marked his film debut with Ameer-starrer Yogi (2009) as an aspiring actor, who wants to be photographed by Ganja Karuppu's character. His character got noticed, and he permanently added ‘Yogi’ tag to his name. After a brief comic role in Pattathu Yaanai (2013), he was featured in several movies including Maan Karate and Yaamirukka Bayamey. He also played a memorable character role in Shah Rukh Khan – Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, originally released in Hindi. Kaaka Muttai (2015), Kirumi (2015) and breakthrough role in Aandavan Kattalai (2016) helped him to rise to stardom.
