Yashasvi Jaiswal Biography

Yashasvi Jaiswal is a young cricketer from Suriyawan of Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. He currently plays for India Under-19s and Mumbai. He is the youngest cricketer in the world to score a List A double century. He made this world record in October 2019, which helped him to find space in India U-19 team. He currently plays as opener for his team. In 2020 U-19 WC, he scored 400 runs from 6 innings and played a magnificent role in his team which played finals. Thus he has promising career ahead. Rajasthan Royals signed him for 2.4 crore Indian rupees for 2020 IPL. His elder brother Tejasvi is also a cricketer.

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal was born in Suriyawan, Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh on 28 December 2001 into a poor family. His father owned a hardware store and he has 5 siblings. He was born as the fourth kid among six to Bhupendra Jaiswal and Kanchan Jaiswa. His mother is a housewife. He moved to Dabar, Mumbai at the age of 10 to receive training in cricket from Azad Maidan. He later relocated to Kalbadevi neighbourhood, and worked at a local shop while doing the cricket training. He stayed at a tent, often slept hungry and sold panipuri to make ends meet.

 

He was spotted in December 2013 by Jwala Singh who owned a cricket academy in Mumbai. By that time he had already spent three years, living in a tent. While at school he scored 319 not out and took 13/99 in a Giles Shield match in 2015, which helped him to come to limelight for the first time. His score also entered Limca Book of Records. He got selected to Mumbai under-16 squad followed by India under-19s, and there was no turning back after that.
