Naman Ojha Biography

Naman Ojha is an Indian cricketer who had a brief career in international cricket for team India. In domestic cricket he plays for Madhya Pradesh, and has been a part of IPL multiple times since 2009. For team India, he has played a single ODI and test match each, scoring 56 and 1 run respectively. He has played a total of 118 T20 matches and 113 FC till now, scoring 2,050 and 7,866 runs respectively. He plays in the role of Wicket-keeper batsman for his team and is a right handed batsman. He has also served as the captain of the India A team in 2016.

 

Naman Ojha’s full name is Naman Vinaykumar Ojha. He was born on 20 July 1983 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He started his domestic career with Madhya Pradesh team during 2000-01 season. From there on he played a total of 113 FC matches. In limited over format, he scored 96 for India Green in 2008-09 Challenger Trophy. He became a part of second season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2009–2010 and played for Rajasthan Royals. In his second match in the series, he scored a 50. Since then he played for different teams over the years.

 

About his international cricket career – he was included as a back-up wicket-keeper in the T20I series for India's 2010 tour of Zimbabwe and an ODI Tri-series on the same tour. He played one match when MS Dhoni was given rest for one of the matches and could manage to score a single run only. He made his test debut in 2015 at the age of 32 against SL. When India’s WC Wriddhiman Saha got an injury, he played as the substitute. Though he scored a half century, four catches and one stumping, he never played for India again.
