William David Biography

William David is a successful cinematographer associated with south Indian film industry. He predominantly works in Kannada movies, and is best known for his debut work - Rangitaranga with director Anup Bhandari. Prior to his entry in films, he has been fully active in advertising field, and has worked in over 1000 commercial ads, belonging to different lead brands of the country. He is the first cinematographer to use 3D Stereoscope in South Indian Cinema, along with Rohit Manjrekar from Unit 1 Production team. Apart from Rangitaranga, he has also done Kannada-Telugu bilingual Rajaratha in 2018. Iruvudellava Bittu is his upcoming movie as DOP.

William David was born on June 26, 1983 in Sakleshpura, Karnataka. He started his professional career with ad film world, where he worked as co-director of photography for some years before stepping into films in 2015. He has also worked as an assistant in south Indian film industry as well as Bollywood, with many leading filmmakers and artists. Apart from ads, he has also shot many corporate films. William started work in Kannada cinema in 2008 with "Shivani" as an assistant cameraman/cinematographer. He has worked in Hindi as well as Marathi films, before switching over to south Indian films. He has also shot short films and music videos.

As an independent cinematographer, Kannada film, Rangitaranga released in 2015 marked his film debut. It was his first full-length feature film, and he managed to leave a mark with his camera work. The movie was also critically well acclaimed, winning many awards. Tamil actor Arya made his Kannada debut with his second work, Rajaratha/Rajaratham, released in Kannada and Telugu languages respectively.
