Vishnu Vinay Biography

Vishnu Vinay is a Malayalam actor who plays lead and supporting roles on Malayalam big screen. In 2019 he came to spotlight after playing male lead role in Aakasha Ganga 2 – the sequel to the horror film released 20 years ago with the same title. He played lead character Arathi Varma’s fiancée in this horror flick, which was a box office hit. He is the son of director Vinayan, who directed both these films. Vishnu made his debut in Malayalam through the film History of Joy directed by Vishnu Govindan. The Gambinos was his second release, and he gained recognition through his third release, Aakasha Ganga 2.

Vishnu Vinay hails from Palarivattom, Ernakulam. His family is originally from Kuttanad. He was born on 8 April 1987 into a family with close links to cinema. His father Vinayan is an acclaimed director of Malayalam, mostly associated with horror flicks in the recent times, though he has made family dramas and comedy flicks too. Vishnu’s school education was completed in Kochi, and then graduated with a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, US. He also pursued masters in Aeronautics from Purdue University, US. He has one sister who is married and currently settled in US.

Apart from acting, he is interested in singing. He is a trained percussionist too. Interestingly his first stint with movies was as a writer. He co-scripted the film, Hareendran Oru Nishkalankan in 2007, which was directed by his father. After that he concentrated on to his studies. He returned to films as an actor in the year 2017. His debut film History of Joy also starred Vinay Forrt, Saikumar, Nandu etc. Aakasha Ganga 2 was his first association with father.
