Virinchi Varma Biography

Virinchi Varma is a young film director associated with Telugu cinema. Marked his film debut with Uyyala Jampala in 2013, he later directed Majnu in 2016. As of now he has directed only two films, and both belong to Telugu. He has worked as a poster designer and then an assistant director in the industry, before he turned a full-fledged film director. His debut flick, Uyyala Jampala was a huge hit at box office, and his second flick Majnu too fared well at box office.

 

Varma hails from Siddhapuram, near Bhimavaram. He was born into a Telugu speaking family. During younger days he was interested in literature and books than films. An avid reader too, he read the books of great writers like Sri Sri, Gopichand, Thilak, and Chalam. Reading these books put a great influence on Varma since younger days. He also loved Illayaraja’s film music. Till his intermediate he studied at his hometown Bhimavaram, and later shifted to Hyderabad for higher studies. He happened to watch a string of flicks with music scores given by music maestro Illayaraja, and by that time he decided to join film industry sooner or later.

 

After graduation, he joined poster design in aim to join the film industry through that media. He worked as a poster designer for three years, and later joined film industry as an assistant director under Madan. He worked under Madan for the movies, Pellaina Kothalo, Gunde Jhallumandi and Pravarakhyudu and marked his successful debut as a film director in 2013. His debut film Uyyala Jampala turned as good romantic family entertainer, and it opened to very positive reviews. The movie was a huge hit and thus the director made a sensational debut in the industry.
