Viraj (tamil Actor) Biography

Viraj is a well-known film actor associated with Tamil film industry. He is also credited as Hari Prashanth in Tamil movies. He is the son of dubbing artiste S. N. Surendar of Tamil cinema, the brother of vocalist Shoba Chandrasekhar. Shoba is the mother of super star Vijay. Hence Viraj is the first cousin of Vijay. Viraj’s uncle S. A. Chandrasekhar, Vijay’s father is also a film director. Viraj has appeared in only lesser number of Tamil films, and is perhaps best known for playing the Bad Boys’ cricket captain of well-known Tamil film, Chennai 600028 and its sequel Chennai 600028 II.

Viraj was born as Hari Prashanth on 25 August 1992 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His family belongs to a list of artists with close links to cinema and entertainment. His father S. N. Surendar is a dubbing artist, and paternal aunt Shobha a vocalist. His paternal uncle S. A. Chandrasekhar and cousin Vijay are associated with Tamil cinema, as film director and actor respectively. Viraj started off his acting career as a child artist through year 2000 film, Uyirile Kalanthathu playing Younger Raghuvaran. After that he played child roles in a few more films such as Unnai Ninaithu, Thithikudhe, Unnai Charanadaindhen, Chennai 600028 and Anniyan.

He played the childhood role of Vikram in Anniyan in 2005. He played the cricket captain of Bad Boys’ cricket team in the highly successful sports drama, Chennai 600028 in 2007. When the film’s sequel was made in 2016, he reprised the role he played in the original. He appeared as a child actor in Chennai 600028, while appeared as an adult actor in Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings. After completing studies in Visual communication, though he received many film offers, his father was specific in accepting only meaty roles.
