Vikram Thakor Biography

Vikram Thakor is a noted actor, musician and singer associated with Gujarati cinema. Radha Tara Vina Gamtu Nathi (2007), Vaagi kalje Katari Tara Premni (2010), Premi Zukya Nathi ne Zukshe Nahi (2011) and Rasiya Tari Radha Rokani Rannma (2014) are some of his successful films. Known for many box office hits, he is also regarded as an arising superstar associated with Gollywood (Gujarati) films. Made his debut in 2006 with the commercial hit, Ek Var Piyu Ne Malva Aavje his movies are targeted to rural audience. He has been a folk singer prior to his entry to films as an actor.

Vikram Thakor belongs to Fatehpura of Gandhinagar district, Gujarat. He started singing and performing at the age of 10. He practised flute since then. His father Melaji Thakor was folk singer and kirtan singer. So Vikram was inspired and encouraged by his father a lot since his younger age and Vikram used to accompany his father for performances since the age of 10. He also played flute for stage performances since then. As a solo performer on stage, his career began at the age of 20. He was associated with stage shows for long and was not interested in joining film line. However he joined film industry in 2006 with the movie, Ek Var Piyu Ne Malva Aavje which was a box office hit.

Since then he appeared in low budget movies based on rural themes and his films were targeted rural audience as well, which proved to be a major success. All his eight films have been hits at the local box office, and now he has been established as the new superstar of Gujarati film industry. In 2011, he was accused of duping Gujarati film director, Paresh Patel of 35 lakhs. He along with Vimal has composed various devotional songs, garbas and bhajans, apart from films like Rasiya Tari Radha Rokani Ranma.
