Vikas Gowda Biography

Vikas Gowda is an Indian sportsman who competes in the games of discus throw and shot put. He has set national record by his best throw of 66.28 meters which he achieved in April 2012.

 

Vikas Gowda was born on 5th July 1983 in Mysore in Karnataka. His father’s name is Shive Gowda. He completed his studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He became the US NCAA National Champion in discus in 2006.

 

He is supported by Olympic Gold Quest. He gets his training in Arizona and is coached by John Godina. He represented India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics. He ended up in 22nd place in the qualifiers in 2008 Olympics with a throw of 60.69 meters. In 2012 London Olympics he was able to reach the finals with a throw of 65.20 meters and ended up in fifth place. His personal best in shot put is 19.62 meters.
