Vidya Pradeep Biography

Vidya Pradeep is a south Indian actress who appears in Malayalam and Tamil movies. She debut Tamil film industry in 2010 with the movie, Aval Peyar Thamizharasi and assumed Dhyana as her screen name. She played supporting role in this movie, followed by Virundhali the same year. After a break, she was seen in a cameo role in a Malayalam movie, starring Mammootty and Dileep - Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath.

 

In 2014 she made a comeback to Tamil movies playing the role of Thenmozhi – in Saivam. She played lead role in Adhibar. The movie was directed by Surya Prakash and she was paired opposite Jeevan for the movie. However the movie was a flop. Later she signed a series of Tamil movies – Pasanga 2, Asurakulam, Onnume Puriyala, Achamindri and Thalakaal Puriyala. Pachakarimbu is her upcoming Malayalam release.

 

Vidya was born in Alappuzha, Kerala. A brilliant student, she completed Master’s degree in biotechnology and then pursued a PhD at a leading eye hospital in Chennai. She got her first offer from Lohitadas, the famous Malayalam director in the year 2009. However the director passed away the same year and the project didn’t take off. But his associate Meera Kathiravan offered her a character role in his upcoming movie - Aval Peyar Thamizharasi. As it was a supporting role she was not convinced, but finally agreed and assumed Dhyana as per director’s suggestion. Same year she received her first movie as heroine – Virundhali, which was a box office failure.

 

She took a break from acting and continued with studies and made a comeback with the music video for A. R. Rahman's "Aabhi Jaa" for his his studio album Raunaq. She was spotted by director A. L. Vijay who brought back her to movies with the Tamil film – Thenmozhi.
