Vela Ramamoorthy Biography

Vela Ramamoorthy is a film actor associated with Tamil cinema, known for playing supporting roles. He is also a writer. For 2016 movie, Kidaari he won Best Villain award from Vikatan Magazine. He portrayed the memorable role of Kombiah in the film. He is associated with Tamil cinema since 2013, and some of his noted roles include – Sketch, Paayum Puli, Aramm, Appa, Yeidhavan, Madura Veeran, Vanamagan, Rajini Murugan, Ra Ra Rajasekhar, Thondan and Sethupathi. He mostly plays father and uncle roles onscreen.

 

He hails from Perunali, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. He is a PUC Graduate. He served Indian Army for five years, and later worked in post office. Since then he used to write, and many people used to visit him during his working years in postal department. He owns many published book to his credit, and most recently has started writing screenplay on his book, Kuttra Parambarai, which will be helmed by Bala. He entered acting field in 2013, with the movie, Madha Yaanai Koottam.

 

Ever since the popular writer forayed into acting, there has been no looking back. In 4-5 years, the actor has been offered great roles and has received many accolades for his performances. Gautham Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thotta is his upcoming flick, for which he experiments with new looks. Till now he mostly portrayed rural characters and Enai Noki Paayum Thotta presents him in an entirely different modern avatar. He will be casual tees and jeans in the film, and has also learnt horse riding.

 

The actor received critical acclaim for his negative role in Kidaari and roles started pouring in. Yet he stays a little bit choosy, and has accepted only a handful of roles after listening to more than 25 scripts.
