Veeru Devgan Biography

Veeru Devgan is a very famous stunt master and action choreographer associated with Bollywood since 1970s. He has also directed one Bollywood film, Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) with his son Ajay Devgan playing the main lead. Actress Kajol is his daughter-in-law. Thus he is related to Mukherjee-Samarth filmy family, with many artists related to the fields of acting and direction. As an Action Choreographer, some of his early works include Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Khoon Pasina, Inkaar, Khel Khel Mein, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Kranti, Dostana, Hum Paanch, Do Aur Do Paanch etc. As of now, in a career spanning to more than 45 years, he has done more than 100 films, and most of his works remained successful.

He was born into the Devgan family in Amritsar. His wife’s name is Veena, and the couple has 4 children. Two of their children are into Bollywood cinema. His son Ajay Devgan is a well-established star of Bollywood cinema, who has most recently joined the list of film directors as well. His other son Anil Devgan has directed Ajay Devgan in two films, Raju Chacha and Blackmail, and both remained unsuccessful at box office.

Veeru Devgan’s active career in Bollywood began in 1974, and he turned an established stunt master in the 1980s. In fact he launched his son through an action flick, Phool Aur Kante in 1991, which remained a hit, and since then Ajay retained an action hero image for many years, before he started experimenting with his roles. Veeru worked as stunt master for most of Ajay Devgan films in the 1990s. Apart from working as an action choreographer, he has also worked as an assistant director and made brief roles in films like Kranti in the 1980s. He produced two Ajay Devgan films, Hindustan Ki Kasam and Dil Kya Kare in the late 1990s.
