Varun Tej Biography

Varun Tej is a newcomer of Tollywood. This film actor belongs to the family of megastars – Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan, both are his uncles. He is the son of producer-actor, Nagendra Babu, the brother of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan. His younger sister Niharika Konidela has also stepped into Tollywood. He is the grandson of Allu Rama Lingaiah and Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Sai Dharam Tej – the established actors of Telugu film industry are his cousins.

Varun was born in Hyderabad on19 January 1990. He was born into a film family of well-established actors. His full name is Konidela Sai Varun Tej and he is the elder son of Nagendra Babu and Konidela Padmaja. He made his film debut in the year 2014, where he played the male lead for the film - Mukunda directed by Srikanth Addala opposite Pooja Hegde. Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj and Nassar also played key roles in the film which received decent reviews from critics who praised the performances. A typical Srikanth Addala kind of film, less known as a commercial film, Varun earned critics’ appreciation through this film.

In 2015, two movies were released – Kanche directed by Krish and Lofar by Puri Jagannadh. Kanche - based on World War II was one of the highest grossers for the year 2015 and the movie met with critical acclaim also. Pragya Jaiswal played his female lead. New comer Disha Patani played the female lead in Lofar – his last release. The movie too was a commercial hit and received positive response from critics. Thus with just three films, Varun has established himself as a promising young actor of Telugu cinema. He is to team up once again with Krish for his upcoming project - Rayabhari.
