Vakkantham Vamsi Biography

Vakkantham Vamsi is an actor, dialogue writer, screenwriter and director in Telugu cinema. He is the son of legendary Telugu writer, Vakkantham Suryanarayana Rao and continues his legacy in writings. As a writer, he made his Telugu film debut with Kalyana Prapthirasthu, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Kalusukovalani marked his writing debut, Kick proved to be his first major hit, after which he wrote many hit projects for Telugu cinema. He frequently worked with superstars of Telugu cinema like Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan etc. An actor turned writer, he is fully active in screen writing now.

Vakkantham Vamsi hails from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. He was born in Arikela village near Punganur to famous writer, Vakkantham Suryanarayana Rao. He graduated from Sri Venkateswara University. Following his father’s footsteps he chose writing as his career. Since school days, he earned recognition for his writing skills. Vamsi started his career as a News presenter and television anchor. Then he marked his acting debut through television serials.

As an actor he started with Bapu – Ramana's tele serial "Bhagavatham" telecast on ETV Network, where he essayed the character role of Suka Muni. Kalyana Prapthirasthu marked his acting debut on big screen and Kalusukovalani in 2002 marked his writing debut. He wrote the screenplay of Ashok and Athidhi in the next 5 years which earned him limited success. With the release of Kick in 2009, he touched new heights in his writing profession. The movie was later remade to Hindi with Salman Khan playing the lead role. He wrote the film script aside its director, Surender Reddy.

Later he got associated with big banners, directors and super stars of Telugu cinema. Kalyanram Kathi, Oosaravelli, Race Gurram, Yevadu, Touch Chesi Chudu, Kick 2, Aaradugula Bullet and Temper are his projects later. In 2018 he marked his directorial debut with Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India, with Allu Arjun playing the male lead.
