V. R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan Biography 
V. R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan was a freedom fighter, journalist and politician from Thrissur, Kerala. He was a Gandhian, trade union leader and politician affiliated to Indian National Congress. He was the founder general secretary of Kochi rajaya prajamandalam in 1941, and was the founder of the now defunct Deenabandhu daily. He was a contemporary of senior Congress leader and former CM K. Karunakaran, who was also a native of Thrissur. Ezhuthachan lived during the period, 1909 – 2004. V. R. Krishnan Ezhuthchan Law College was named after him. It started functioning in the academic year 2014-2015.
V. R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan was born in Avinissery, Thrissur on April 25, 1909 as the the tenth son of Vadakkoot Nelliparambil Raman Ezhuthachan and Njarasseri valappil Lakshmi amma. He completed his primary education from a traditional village school long before Indian Independence. He graduated with rank in Economics and Law (BL). Gandhiji’s visit to Kerala in 1925 fuelled him to join freedom struggle movement, and it was for the first time Krishnan met him. P. Kumaran Ezhuthachan was his mentor in politics. He made an identity of his own through his sincere political activities for Kochi Rajya prajamandalam. He was its founder general secretary.
A group of young people were highly displeased with the functioning of political movements in Kochi Kingdom, which prompted them to form Kochi Rajya prajamandalam. It formed Cochin flood relief committee during 1941 Kerala floods. He acted as the president of Cochin karshaka Sabha which supported farmers against feudalism. For his service for freedom struggle movement, nation honored Ezhuthachan with Thamarapathra. He was an excellent writer who received Kerala Sahitya Akademi award for his autobiography V.R.Krishnan Ezhuthachan: Aathmakadha in 2000.
