Upendra Limaye Biography 
Upendra Limaye is a noted film actor belonging to Marathi film industry. In 2008 he won national award for best actor for the Marathi movie – Jogwa directed by Late Rajiv Patil. He was paired with Mukta Barve in this movie and Upendra portrayed the role of Tayappa in the movie which explores the life of a rural people who are the devotees of Goddess Yellamma who are forced to leave everything and treated as sex slaves.
He has been associated with theater since 1988. He started his film journey by doing serious and aggressive roles and has also played luck in Bollywood through the movies – Traffic signal, Chandini Bar and Page 3, all belonging to Madhur Bhandarkar. He started his film journey through Marathi movies – ‘Mukta' and 'Dhyasparva/Kal ka Aadmi' and after that known for ‘Angry young man’ type of roles. He has also done offbeat movies like Tuhya Dharma Koncha and Dhag.
Known for doing serious movies with some social messages, Limaye is not hesitated to accept romantic roles, if only the script is powerful. His upcoming movie is a romantic flick in which he plays a glamorous role. The movie is titled 'Guru Pornima-Ek Lovable Story' and it is directed by Girish Mohite. He is paired with Sai Tamhankar for the first time.
He had rejected about 30 film offers at that point just waiting for the best script to come in. It even upset his wife for rejecting so many offers. But Jogwa happened and the rest is history. The movie earned him numerous awards and recognitions including Best Actor Maharashtra Times Award and Best Actor V. Shantaram Award. The movie which bagged 6 National awards including the main categories is regarded as a milestone movie in Marathi cinema too.
