Thennavan (tamil Actor) Biography

Thennavan is a Tamil Actor known for playing supporting roles in Tamil films. He marked his debut in Bharathiraja's En Uyir Thozhan (1990), and has spent almost three decades in the industry. He rose to prominence with 2002 action flick, Gemini, followed by Virumaandi and Jay Jay. Sundarapandian (2012) and Naan Than Bala (2014) are among his noted roles he played later. He played the lead role in an experimental film, Ayul Regai (2005), winning critical acclaim. Though he has done a very few movies in the 1990s, after his role of Gemini got noticed, he became a regular artist of Tamil cinema.

His real name is Ramesh Duraisamy. He was born on 16 November 1966 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. After completing his graduation from Coimbatore in 1984, he moved to Chennai to pursue a career in films. Yet he had to struggle a long time to get his first film. It happened in 1990 with Bharathiraja's En Uyir Thozhan, where he played second lead. But his role was not sufficient to get more offers from films, and he hadto wait for a long time to get the real break. By this time he had already moved to supporting roles. In between he was also seen in 1995 drama film, Veluchami in a brief role.

He won critical acclaim for his performance as Kai – Vikram’s sidekick in Saran's Gemini (2002). His role was convincing and won everyone’s heart. After that he is often called Kai Thennavan. He started receiving more character roles from Tamil films. It also helped him to get a role in Kamal Hassan starrer, Virumaandi. He played lead role for the first time in his career through Ayul Regai in 2005. Sandakozhi 2 is his upcoming release.
