Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam is a new generation movie maker associated with Telugu film industry. This budding director directed critically acclaimed Telugu language romantic comedy film Pellichoopulu (2016), the movie which won many awards including National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu, and National award for Best Screenplay - Dialogues. He started with short films in 2011 and slowly graduated to full-length feature films. The movie caught the attention of audience and critics alike.

Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam was born on 5 November 1988 in Warangal, Telangana. Waddepally is his hometown. His mother Geetha Bhaskar has appeared in Telugu movies. His father, Uday Bhaskar is an engineer. He was brought up in Marredpally in Hyderabad, where he completed his school studies. He completed mechanical engineering graduate from Swami Vivekananda Institute of Technology and later enrolled at New York Film Academy. After that he started off doing short films in the year 2011. The Journey in 2011 is his first short film, followed by Anukokunda and Sainma.      

In 2016 he marked his directorial debut with romantic comedy, Pellichoopulu. The movie opened to positive reviews and was a huge hit at box office in India and overseas. The movie starring Vijay Devarakonda received two national awards, two Filmfare awards and the SIIMA Award for Best Film. Ritu Varma played female lead in the film. His work was appreciated by almost all leading filmmakers of the industry, and as a newcomer it was a great compliment too. A simple story, when told with conviction and passion, strike a chord among audiences of all sections. Apart from romance and laugh-aloud humour, it gives fresh ideas for women empowerment too.
