Tejashree Biography

Tejashree is the screen name of Sonali Jaikumar Khele, who is an actor and item dance of Indian movies. She predominantly worked in Tamil movies, apart from Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati and Marathi films. Originally a Kathak dancer, she has also worked as a model for a few years. Madhurey (2003), Ottran (2003) and Arya (2007) are some of her noted appearances as a supporting actress or dancer. She has done 16 films in Tamil, and over 15 films in Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati and Marathi.

She entered the film industry through Tamil movies. Ottran, opposite Arjun marked her south Indian debut and her song - ‘Chinna Veeda Varattuma’ became a hit. Same year she appeared in a Hindi B-grade film - Tu Bal Bramhachari Main Hoon Kanya Kunwari. Since then she appeared in numerous dance sequences of Tamil movies which made her a popular face in Tamil Nadu. She is a trained Kathak dancer which has helped her a lot in the dance sequences and has worked under many big banners of Tamil cinema. She was trained by her father Master Jaikumar Khele, a disciple of Pandit Gopi Krishna Maharaj. Her father runs a Kathak institute.

To get out of the tag of an item girl, she stopped accepting dance sequences and focused on film roles for the last few years. But she often ended up doing insignificant roles. But she never regrets on it, as she got opportunity to work with all leading stars of south Indian film industry after that. She shared screen space with Madhavan in Arya, Vijay in Madhurey, Dhanush in Athu Oru Kana Kalam and Srikanth in Joot. She played second heroine in Something Something. One of her major hit was Vadivelu starrer comic film - Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi (2006), which was a surprise hit at box office. She played the parallel lead aside Monica for this movie.
