Tanima Sen Biography

Tanima Sen is a Bengali film and television actress. She is also associated with Hindi TV soaps. Currently she is quite active in Bengali television, playing character and mother kind of roles. Premer Phande Kakatua, Bor Aasbe Ekhuni, Jinon Rang Berang, Janmabhumi, Roopkotha, Labonyer Sangsar, Baluchari, Kacher Putul, Ghar- Jamai, Swikarakti, Swarger Kache, Classmate, Obhishopto Nighty, Pather Sesh Kothay, Prem By Chance, Bondhu Eso Tumi, Brake Fail etc are some of her notable roles. She is best known from her role of Shobha Bose (Swara’s nani) in the popular TV serial Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur. She is a stage actress and playwright too.

Tanima Sen hails from West Bengal. She started her career as a theatre artist, before moving to movies and later she joined television industry too. In 1994, she started her own theatre group Shyambazar Apalak. She is quite regular with Bengali TV soaps right now. Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur is her most popular TV show. She made an exit from the popular show citing the daily sighting health issues. She later moved back to Kolkata for proper medical assistance. Her character gained recognition slowly among the masses.

As a stage actress she started off in 1985 and was a part of a play named Baluchari. The play was successfully staged for more than 500 plays. Apart from earning fame as a stage actress, she is a playwright too. She marked her television debut in 1995, and a few of her popular shows include - Janmabhumi, Roopkotha, Labonyer Sangsar, Swaragini-Jodein Rishton Ke Sur, and Pandemonium. Jodi Emon Hoto – the Bengali show marked her debut in television.
