T. Krishnanunni Biography

T. Krishnanunni is a National award winning Sound Engineer belonging to Malayalam film industry. He was a recipient of National Film Award for Best Audiography thrice during his active career in the 1980s and 1990s and worked with some of the prominent Malayalam film directors of the era. He won national awards for Anantaram (1987), Piravi (1988) and Desadanam (1996) and won it highest among artists belonging to Malayalam cinema. He also received Kerala State Film Award for Best Sound Recordist 9 times between 1987 and 2008 spanning to two decade, thus becoming one of the gifted sound engineers of Malayalam cinema.

 

T. Krishnanunni was born on 12 June 1960 in Ottapalam, Palakkad, Kerala State. After completing his studies in different colleges of Kerala under different universities, he moved to Pune where he enrolled at Film and Television Institute of India to do Sound Recording & Sound Engineering course. He passed out from the FTII in 1976 after which he embarked on a glorious journey in this field. Very soon he joined Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad as sound recordist in their Khedda Communications Project in 1977 at Ahmedabad. He moved to Kerala in 1980 and joined Chitranjali Studio, where he worked for many years.

 

He spent long 28 years in Chitranjali studio and retired as Chief Sound Engineer in 2008. During this period, he has been associated with many films and directors belonging to Malayalam cinema. His association with Adoor Gopalakrishnan, G. Aravindan and Shaji N. Karun have earned him accolades. He has also directed a few documentaries for several departments of Government of Kerala, apart from Ayurvedic centre, Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala.
