Swami Chidanand Saraswati Biography

Parmarth Niketan one of the largest ashrams in Rishikesh district Dehradun of India founded in 1940s by Swami Shukdevanandji Maharaj is currently run under the able guidance of Swami Chidanand Saraswati. Swami Chidanand Saraswati was born on 3 June 1952 is human right activist and founder of many institutes active for the cause of human welfare.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati is an environmentalist who largely supports the goals of the environmental movement in India and many other countries. Swami Chidanand Saraswati has a firm belief in 'Vasudeva Kutumbakam' the famous Hindu tradition which tells us that the whole world is one family.  

As mentioned above Swami Chidanand Saraswati is working on many humanitarian and environmental projects some of which are listed below- 

1- IHRF- India Heritage Research Foundation, on no profit basis run entirely on donations from worldwide donators a foundation that works for the welfare of children, women, environment, health and cow-care besides running other charitable programs at different international locations.

2- GAP- One of the main missions of Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj is to protect River Ganga from pollution so he has founded Ganga Action Parivar that helps protect River Ganga from pollution by organizing various related programs.

3- Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj works untried towards the cause of street animals, drinking water, hygene, etc. Incidentally he is one of the board members of Elijah Interfaith Institute founded in 1997 in Jerusalem, Israel by Rabbi Alon Goshen-Gottstein with combined teaching of Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and the different Indian religions.

4- Apart from various other projects undertaken under the able guidance of Swami Chidanand Saraswati, one of the most important projects is 'Encyclopedia of Hinduism' a more than 7000 worded encyclopedia having detailed description of the eternal way of Hindus, the Jains, the Budhdhas and the Sikhs. The Encyclopedia of Hinduism having all details of way of life in words and pictures with the help of thousands of scholers over a period of more than 25 years has been praised by eminent personalities like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr. Karan Singh, Indrajit Hazra, L.K. Advani.
