Swami Anand Krishna Biography

Swami Anand Krishna is a Hindu spiritual humanist of Indonesia. He is of Indian origin and Sindhi descent. He also authored many books. He started off numerous spiritual establishments and charity organizations. He founded Anand Ashram Foundation in 1991 as Center for Wellbeing and Self-Empowerment. This foundation is now affiliated to United Nations Department of Public Information and Anand Krishna Centres. He is currently based in Bali, where he is fully active with his spiritual life. He preaches love as the one solution for all problems. He has published more than 170 books in Indonesian and English.

 

His birth name is Krishna Kumar Tolaram Gangtani. He was born into an Indian Sindhi family in Indonesia. He was born on 1 September 1956 in Solo, Central Java. He moved to India in his early childhood. He spent his early education in Lucknow, North India. He met a spiritual leader Sheikh Baba while living here, and later Baba became his mentor.  Baba also introduced him to Sufi poetry and teachings of Shah Abdul Latief of Sindh. Anand Krishna continued his studies and completed post-graduation, and also started his profession in private business sector.

 

He served as the Director and Shareholder of a Garment Factory in Indonesia. Suddenly he fell ill, and it was diagnosed that he suffered from an acute Leukemia in critical stage. He had near-death experiences multiple times. He had a mysterious meeting with a Tibetan Lama in the Himalayas, and he was cured miraculously. Later Anand decided to devote his life to sharing his healing, peace, love and joy, and entered a spiritual world, where he shares his spiritual experiences with others.
