Suveeran Biography

Suveeran is a noted film and drama director from Kozhikode who shot to fame after directing the first feature film in Beary language titled Byari in 2011. The movie went on to win national award for best regional movie as well. The film was screened at various film festivals where it won rave reviews and was released in theatres in Dakshin Kannada region as well. He holds a post-graduation from the prestigious National School of Drama, New Delhi.

He was born in Vadakara of Kozhikode district. The place is famous for plays based on social subjects. There was a rehearsal camp just near to his home where he used to watch rehearsals of plays since childhood. He was a regular visitor there. Once the hero was not present to play a show and its show director asked Suveeran to handle the role. He did the role perfectly and delivered the dialogues as well, which earned him praises. The play was ‘Nee velichamanu’ – the first act for which he got encouragement.

While at school he was drawn towards poetry, story writing and painting. While studying in class 10, he directed the same play ‘Nee velichamanu’ which marked his acting debut. Since then he got permanently associated with the world of theater and regularly acted and directed plays during his college days as well. But his attitude was not approved by his father. He got opportunity to work with the professional troupe, Varada soon after his college days. ‘Ennum Priyapetta amma’ was the first play as a stage actor.

Real breakthrough to his career was his admission to NSD. He married his classmate Amrita. He studied MA at Pondicherry School of Performing arts. In parallel he started campus theater in Kerala colleges, marking a successful beginning.
