Suraj Venjaramoodu Biography

Suraj Venjaramoodu is an Indian film actor and mimicry artist of Malayalam film industry. Though he played lead roles in some films, he mainly plays comic roles. He was born on 17th September 1976 in Venjarammoodu in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. His father is Vasudevan Nair and he is a retired soldier in the Indian Army.

 

He has one elder brother V. V. Saji who is serving in the Indian army. Suraj Venjaramoodu also wanted to serve in the army after finishing his S. S. L. C. He broke his arm in an accident and so he had to change his mind. Then he joined Attingal Government ITI and did his Mechanical course.

 

He shifted his attention towards mimicry and the program Jagapoka gave him a break through. This was a comedy program and this was broadcasted in Kairali TV. This marked the beginning of his career as a stand-up comedian and played an important role in the film Jagapoga.

 

He is noted for his mockery of Thiruvananthapuram accent and contributed to the blockbuster Rajamanikyam. He has acted in more than 50 films and played in the lead role in the films Duplicate and Thaskara Lahala. Some of his notable films are Arabikatha, Veruthe Oru Bharya, Gulumal: The Escape, Ivar Vivahitharayal, Sakudumbam Shyamala, Alibai, Annan Thambi, One Way Ticket, Madambi, College Kumaran, Kangaroo, Kanaka Simhasanam, Kurukshetra, Twenty: 20, Mulla, Love in Singapore, Hailesa, Currency, Venal Maram, etc.

 

He got Asianet Film Awards for Best Actor in a Comic Role twice in 2010 and 2007 and Kerala State Film Awards for Best Comedy Artist for the film Ivar Vivahitharayal in 2009.
