Sumanth Shailendra Biography

Sumanth Shailendra is a popular film actor who plays lead roles in Kannada movies. He is the son of popular Kannada film producer Shailendra Babu. He marked his acting debut in the year 2011 through the film Aata and got breakthrough from the film Dilwala (2013). Tirupathi Express, Lee, Bhale Jodi and Bettanagere are his other releases. Dilwala is the most successful film role of his career, where he played lead role opposite Radhika Pandit in this romantic film.

Sumanth hails from Bangalore, Karnataka and was born into a filmy family. His father Shailendra Babu is a well-known film producer of Kannada entertainment industry. He was launched to big screen by his father Shailendra in the year 2011 through the movie, Aata, which couldn’t make an impact in box office or could receive good reviews from critics. Vibha Natarajan played his lead heroine role, and Sumanth’s role too was reviewed as disappointing. Sumanth underwent a rigorous training in acting at the Kishore Namith School of Acting before he signed his second project, Dilwala. He also worked on his dance skills. It took almost two years before he re-entered the film industry through his second film.

His performance was lauded by the critics, and Sumanth tasted success for the first time. The film went on to become a huge commercial hit and the media cited as a new star born. Later he signed a series of projects in a lead role - Tirupathi Express, Lee, Bhale Jodi and Bettanagere. Bettanagere, a movie based on real time incidents marked the debut of actress Naina Sarwar. Akshay also played a pivot role in the film, a crime thriller directed by Mohan Gowda. Sumanth starred in a comedy entertainer Tirupathi Express (2014) alongside actress Kriti Kharbanda. The movie was an average hit at box office.
