Sujatha Sivakumar is a noted Tamil film actress. She currently plays supporting roles of mother in Tamil movies. Sujatha rose to fame with her performance in Ameer's Paruthiveeran (2007) as Ponvannan’s wife was well appreciated. She received both Vijay Film awards and Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Supporting Actress for this wonderful portrayal on silver screen. Her role as Chokkalingam's wife in 2009 film Pasanga is yet another noted role. The role earned her a nomination at Filmfare awards in best supporting actress category. She played a widow with strong widow in Vijay Milton's Goli Soda (2014), and she used Madhurai slang for its dialogues.

 

Sujatha Sivakumar hails from Madhurai, Tamil Nadu. She was born on 23 December, 1972. She marked her film debut with 2004 Kamal Hassan starrer, Virumaandi. She was seen in a bit role in the film. In 2007 she got her breakthrough role of her career through Paruthiveeran. Her character as Kazhuvathevan's wife earned her accolades and praises of critics. This National award winning film was highly appreciated by critics as well. She also earned the stage name "Paruthiveeran Sujatha" for her subsequent films. Since then she is regular in Tamil cinema playing mother roles.

 

Till now she has down around 50 films, in a career spanning to more than one decade. Some of her film roles include – Veeram, Rummy, Sundarapandian, Goli Soda, Kozhi Koovuthu, Sura, Kuruvi, Pasanga, Kalavani, Mouna Guru, Semma, Thirunaal, 36 Vayadhinile, Pokkiri Raja, Naan Thaan Bala etc. She has excelled in different types of roles she played on screen, and has worked with director Pandiraj for his two super hit films - “Pasanga” and “Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga".
