Sudha Bharadwaj Biography 
Sudha Bharadwaj is a human rights lawyer, trade unionist and civil rights activist who protests against land acquisition who hails from Chhattisgarh. She is the daughter of Krishna Bharadwaj, Neo-Ricardian economist mainly known for her contributions to the economic development theory and the revival of the ideas of classical economics. She is the founder of Janhit - a lawyers’ collective, and she also serves as the general secretary of the Chhattisgarh People's Union for Civil Liberties. This woman activist is also associated with Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, which fights against corrupt bureaucrats to ensure proper wages were paid to the workers in the mines and plants located in Bhilai. In 2018 she came to spotlight after she issued public statements against Republic TV allegations of Maoist link.
Sudha Bharadwaj was born in US to Indian parents, Ranganath Bharadwaj and Krishna Bharadwaj. She spent her younger days in US, and returned to homeland at the age of 11 along with her parents. Sudha was introduced to critical thought at a very young age. She had a US citizenship, which she gave up at the age of 18. She completed her integrated course in Mathematics from IIT Kanpur in 1984.
Since her IIT days, she got involved with activism. She was touched with horrific working conditions of laborers in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar, and decided to fight for the rights of laborers. That’s how she got into touch with Niyogi’s Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha in 1986. To give them law support, she completed her LLB studies in year 2000. Apart from her fights for labourers, she also engaged in issues of Dalit and tribal rights. For the past 29 years, her works have been concentrated in Chhattisgarh. She also serves as the vice-president of the Indian Association for People's Lawyers.
