Sriimurali Biography

Sriimurali, also called Sri Murali or simply Murali is a Kannada film actor. He is the nephew of the matinee idol of Kannada film industry Rajkumar. Srimurali is born into a film family. His father S. A. Chinne Gowda is a film producer while his elder brother Vijay Raghavendra is an actor. His aunt Parvathamma Rajkumar (wife of Rajkumar) and uncles - S.A. Govindaraj and S.A. Srinivas are also film producers. Noted film actors - Shiv Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar are his cousins and his cousin Poornima is married to actor Ramkumar, the son of noted film producer and actor - Shringar Nagaraj.

Sriimurali has appeared in more than 10 films belonging to different south Indian languages. Ugramm released in 2014 is his first major success, which received both commercial and critical success. The movie earned him a nomination for best actor at Filmfare and SIIMA. In 2004, he received Karnataka State award for best actor for the movie – Kanti, where he played the title role of Kanti. He has acted in 10 Kannada films, 1 Malayalam movie and 1 Telugu film. In 2015 he rendered his voice for the song, "Hudugi Kannu" belonging to movie, Rathavara in which he played lead role opposite Rachita Ram. Rathavara – his recent release was also a major success at box office.

He was born in Bangalore in 1981. He made his acting debut with the romantic film - Chandra Chakori which was well received. His second movie Kanti released the following year earned him state award for best actor. Throughout the years though he experimented with different kinds of roles and received rave reviews for his acting performances, he had to struggle a lot to receive a major hit. With the movie Ugramm gave him success after 14 flops and there is no turning back after that. The movie completed 100 successful days at theatre.

After his first two movies - 'Chandra Chakori' and 'Kanti' which turned to be major hits for the actor, there rose a situation of do or die for the actor who faced a terrible setback through a series of flops later. Ugramm had a delayed release of almost three years, but it had a grand opening at theatres.
