Sridhar Kumar Biography

Sridhar Kumar is a very popular actor associated with Kannada cinema. He is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer too, who exhibited his dancing talents in the iconic classical number of Malayalam cult classic Manichitrathazhu – Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya. Though he portrayed Mahadevan - a college lecturer and poet in the Malayalam version, for all other versions Vineeth played the role (including Tamil, Kannada and Hindi). Sridhar has acted in all south Indian language films. He also acted in Hindi film - Bhairavi (1996) in the lead hero role. He is married to a Bharatanatyam dancer Anuradha and the duo has performed together for several shows.

Also called Sridhar, he was born on 22 November 1960. He made his film debut in the year 1984, playing parallel lead in Amrutha Ghalige, directed by the famous director Puttanna Kanagal. He shared screen space with Ramakrishna and Padmavasanthi for the movie. Since then he acted in more than 60 movies belonging to different languages and became a popular actor among masses. He predominantly worked in Kannada cinema, apart from a few movies in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. "Santa Shishunala Shariefa" is one of his memorable performances which earned him Karnataka State Award for Best actor.

He was introduced to Tamil cinema by highly acclaimed director K. Balachander. Manathil Uruthi Vendum in 1987 marked his Tamil debut. He was casted opposite Suhasini, and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and Ramesh Aravind also played pivot roles in the film. He made his Malayalam film debut through Faazil’s Manichitrathazhu in 1993. His supporting role in Telugu movie, "Swarabhishekam" was also well appreciated. Bannada Vesha, Sundara Swapnagalu, Manasa Veene, Aasphota etc are a few more Kannada film roles.
