Sreedhar Savanur Biography

Sreedhar Savanur is an Indian cyclist from Karnataka, whose name is now counted among the top 5 players of this sport. One of India's leading road racing cyclists, Sreedhar Savanur has been a road racing champion for three years since 2012. He received the prestigious Ekalavya award in 2013, the highest recognition Karnataka State Government confers for a sports person and prestigious KOA award. A superbly pace charge from this Karnataka cyclist helped him to win 60 Km champion’s ride at Vodofone Cycling Marathon in 2014. He represented India at Commonwealth Games 2014 held at Glassgow.

 

Sreedhar Savanur hails from Karnataka. Jamkhandi of North Karnataka is his hometown and he was born on 7th July, 1994 into a family which practises farming. He currently works with the Indian Railways in Traffic department and is settled in Jamkhandi with his family. He represents team Wheel Sports at various national level events. In the U-16 category, he has won nine gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

 

He is fully active in this profession since 2011. He won 1 Silver medal (U18 Track), 1 Bronze medal (U18 Track) in the series held at Patiala, marking a successful beginning in his career. As a junior, he won two medals in the cycling race held at Pune and 3 Gold medals at Bihar the same year. He participates as a road racing cyclist and also for track events. He has been a consistent player since he debut as a junior player in 2011. He represented India at UCI Asian Cycling Championships in Open category in the racing track events and the mass start and Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glassgow, though couldn’t make any achievement.
