Soumyajit Ghosh Biography

Soumyajit Ghosh is an Indian sportsman competing in the game of table tennis. He represented India in the 2012 London Olympics and he was the youngest Indian to qualify for 2012 Olympics.

 

Soumyajit Ghosh was born on 10th May 1993 in Siliguri in West Bengal. His father’s name is Sanika Ghosh. He is coached by Subrato Roy, Mantu Ghosh and Bhawani Mukherjee. He ranks number two in India in junior boys category.

 

He got third place in the Junior Asian Championships in U15 category held at New Delhi in 2005 and first place in the Youth National Championships Junior Boys held at Cuttack in 2006. He also has participated in the international matches held at various parts of the world like Doha, New Delhi, China, Edmonton, Montreal and Bahrain.

 

In April 2012, he defeated his senior A. Amal Raj whose is ranking number one in India in table tennis and got an entry to London Olympics. He lost in the second round on 29th July 2012 in the Olympics.
