Sohum Shah Biography

Sohum Shah is a cine personality known as an actor and producer. He is also a successful entrepreneur. He plays lead and character roles on big screen, including negative shaded ones. As of now, he is best known for playing the lead role in highly acclaimed Tumbbad in 2018 and antagonist in Ship of Theseus. He was also a producer of Tumbbad which gathered positive reviews from all corners for the powerful woven story and brilliant performances. Baabarr released in 2010 was his first movie as an actor, and he was also seen in Bollywood mainstream movies such as Talvar (2015) and Simran (2017). He was the co-producer of Gulaab Gang, the movie for which Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla shared screen space for the first time.

Sohum Shah was born in a Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He got drawn towards the acting skills of Shah Rukh Khan and decided to take acting. He moved to Mumbai dreaming to make a career in Bollywood as an actor and film producer. He started his own production house, Recyclewala Films. It deals with content driven film subjects. He marked his acting debut with Baabarr in 2009, where he played the titular role. The movie got into legal issues for alleged negative portrayal of Muslims. The movie was panned by critics and was a box office failure.

After starting his production house, Ship of Theseus was his first project as a film producer. The movie received numerous awards across the globe in different film festivals. He also played a pivot role in the film. Since then he acted in three more Bollywood films and all of them got noticed. He played Kangana Ranaut’s love interest in Simran, and the lead role of Vinayak Rao in the best horror fantasy flick of year 2018 – Tumbbad. The extremely talented actor is concentrating most on content oriented films and meaty roles.
