Sindhu Rajasekaran Biography

Sindhu Rajasekaran is a young writer and filmmaker associated with Tamil language. She is the daughter of IAS officer turned filmmaker - Gnana Rajasekaran, who has received many National and State Film awards. Her debut novel Kaleidoscopic Reflections was long listed for the Crossword Book Award in 2011. She is also a scriptwriter and co-founder of independent film production company, Camphor Cinema which produced Indo-British feature film Ramanujan. The Sacred Cow – is her noted short story, which appeared in Asia Literary Review in 2012. She has also published many poem anthologies.

 

She was born in Chennai to famous IAS officer from Pallikonda, Gnana Rajasekaran. Her mother’s name is Sakunthala Chidambaram and has one younger sister Nandita. As her father was posted in Kerala cadre as an IAS officer, she spent her childhood days in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Later she took an Engineering degree in Electronics from Anna University, followed by master's degree in creative writing from the University of Edinburgh. She published her first novel - Kaleidoscopic Reflections in 2011, which was long listed for the Crossword Book Award in 2011. Since then she is quite active in her literal career.

 

In between she founded a new production company aside her husband and started writing film scripts as well. So I Let It Be, Meghdooth, The Dance of The Peacock and Let Me Molest You are her published poem anthologies. She co-scripted the play - The Tiara Gynaelogues, staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2011 and also played a part as a stage actor. As a screenwriter and producer, she made her debut through Ramanujan (2014) – based on the life of the mathematical genius.
