Sindhu Lokanath Biography

Sindhu Lokanath is a south Indian film actress who predominantly works in Kannada language. Started off with supporting roles, she later moved to leading roles. After playing a cameo role in 2009 movie – Parichaya and a supporting role in 2011 movie - Lifeu Ishtene, she won her first Filmfare nomination in the year 2012 for the movie – Drama for which she received a nomination in the Supporting Actress Category. She also received a nomination at SIIMA awards also. The following year too, she received a nomination at SIIMA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the movie - Case No. 18/9. Love in Mandya released in 2014 is her best performance up-to-date and she received a nomination at IIFA Awards for Best Performance in a Leading Role – Female.

 

She was born in Bangalore in the year 1987 into a conservative family. She completed Master’s in Biotechnology from St. Joseph's College of Arts & Science, Bangalore. She made her film debut with 2009 movie Parichaya in a cameo role. She is also a successful model and has appeared in many TV ads and print ad campaigns. In 2011 she made her film debut with the movie, Lifeu Ishtene where she played the parallel lead role – Nandini. She shared screen space with Samyukta Hornad and Diganth for her debut film, which received positive response from critics and was a box office hit.

 

Since then offers came pouring in and she played both main lead and supporting roles and she excelled in both. Case No. 18/9 and Love in Mandya are her popular roles later. Yaare Koogadali, Sandalwood Sa Ri Ga Ma, Coffee with My Wife, Nan Life Alli, Endendu Ninagagi and Jai Bajarangbali are other noted performances. Her upcoming movies are Rakshasi and 60 Days.
