Sindhu (south Indian Actress) Biography

Sindhu was a popular south Indian film actress, who was most active in the 1990s. She played lead roles in several movies released in the 1990s. She predominantly worked in Tamil movies, apart from doing lead roles in a few Kannada movies like Shrungara Kaavya. She was first married to Shrungara Kaavya co-star, Raghuveer and had a daughter in this marriage. Later she married in 2003 to TV actor Rishi. But this marriage survived two years only, as she died of lung infection two years later when she was only 33. ‘Shrungara Kaavya’ ‘Naviloora Naidhile’, ‘Thungabhadra’ etc are her noted Kannada works. She was very popular with her Tamil television shows.

Sindhu was born in the year 1972, in a family with links to south Indian film industry. She is the daughter of actress Manjula's sister Shyamala. Thus actors - Vanitha Vijayakumar, Preetha Vijayakumar and Sridevi Vijayakumar are her first cousins. She has played both lead and supporting roles in Tamil movies. She regularly worked with Arun Pandiyan and Prabhu in the 1990s, and her television serial, Metti Oli was also popular. She was a part of the show during 2002-2005, till her death. She played the supporting role of Sarala in the show.

As a film actress, she marked her film debut in the year 1990. She appeared in Tamil film, Inaindha Kaigal and appeared in three more Tamil movies the same year. Very soon she bagged many roles in Tamil, apart from a few Kannada films. She married Kannada co-star of the movie Shrungara Kaavya in the 1990s. However the marriage ended in a divorce, and she remarried in 2003. She passed away two years later. The couple had one daughter from their first marriage. She got swooned while she was on her way to collect aid for the coastal tide victims, and she died three days later. Her first husband Raghuveer too had an early death. He remarried after Sindhu’s death, and died of a heart attack in 2014, aged 51.
