Shruthy Menon Biography

Shruthy Menon is a successful model, film actress and TV host associated with south Indian entertainment industry. In 2016, she played female lead in Malayalam hit film, Kismat for which she was nominated at Filmfare awards in best actress category. Currently she is the anchor for Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam's concerts worldwide. She also hosts the show, Ugram Ujwalam. Most recently her photo shoot for a bridal magazine led to controversy. She was criticized to appear topless wearing bridal accessories for the lifestyle magazine and it took internet to storm.

Shruthy was born to Malayali parents in Mumbai in 1984. Palakkad is her home town. The anchor-turned-actor first came to films through an offbeat film Sancharam in 2004. It was followed by a small role in Krithyam. She got noticed for her third film, Mulla, where she played a young Tamil mother who sings in train. Later she played character roles in Kadha Thudarunnu, T.D. Dasan Std.VI B, Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, Up & Down: Mukalil Oralundu etc. She also made her Marathi film debut in the year 2015 through Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani? The production fund is raised through crowd funding campaigns by Kazhcha Chalachithra Vedi.

Kismat in 2016 gave her big break to her acting career. After struggling in film arena for more than a decade, it was her first meaty role. It’s based on a real-life love story, a love story between an elder girl and younger boy. Shane Nigam who has done similar character roles earlier made his debut as a hero through Kismat, and the performance of lead pair was lauded by critics. After the success of Kismat she has signed a couple of movies – Chippy and Who.

Currently she appears in The Test Case (web series by ALT Balaji) and hosts the TV show, Ugram Ujwalam. Though she was not active in film scene, she achieved success as a TV host. She hosted the TV shows, Amrita Super star season 1, Josco Super star season 2, Vodafone Comedy Stars etc.
