Shivani Ghai Biography

Shivani Ghai is an English actress of Indian descent. She is associated with theatre, cinema and television. Ghai has been associated with many English-Indian projects like Bride & Prejudice (2004) starring Aishwarya Rai. She played Aishwarya’s best friend in the film. She is best known for her recent works - London Has Fallen (2016) and Dominion (2014). She is quite successful as a television actress, and has been associated with many TV shows for BBC.

Ghai was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1975 to Indian parents - Davender and Shubh. Her childhood days were spent at Gosforth where she completed her schooling. In the teens she moved to Derby University to complete graduation in film and television. After graduation she started her professional career as a theater actress in London and has been associated with Rifco, Kali and Man Mela. Her experience and excellence in theatre earned her a few minor roles in television. In 2003 she received an offer from director Gurinder Chadha to play protagonist Aishwarya Rai’s best friend role. The role got noticed and since then she received numerous offers from different forms of entertainment media.

She also received offers from short films, theatre and commercials which she accepted. Sarita Dhavi in Rai Uno's Medico In Famiglia (2006) was one of her noted appearance for an Italian TV show. She played an Indian family member in the series. She also acted in BBC shows such as My Hero and Sinchronicity. Identity (2009), Five Days II, Dominion, Ambassadors, The Bible (miniseries), East Enders etc are her noted television roles later. She appeared in film projects – Cleanskin, British spy thriller film apart from London Has Fallen and Dominion.
