Shiv Kumar Subramaniam Biography
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam is an actor and screenwriter associated with Hindi entertainment industry. As an actor, industrial tycoon I. M. Virani in the series Mukti Bandhan is his most memorable role as an actor. In Bollywood, he gained recognition as a screenwriter. He wrote the script of highly acclaimed films – Parinda (1989) for which he won Filmfare award. He co-scripted Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005) aside Ruchi Narain and Sudhir Misra, and the movie was awarded best story award at Filmfare award functions. He also appeared in supporting roles in both these films. He is a theatre veteran associated with stage plays.
Among his Bollywood works, Parinda (1989) is one of his best works as a screenwriter. He wrote the script of the movie, which bagged numerous awards at different award functions. He won Filmfare award for best screenplay. One of the best story writers of Bollywood, better known as IM Virani in “Mukti Bandhan” is now proving his versatility on the small screen. The show is based on Harkishan Mehta’s novel with the same name. Contrary to the arrogant character he plays in the series, Shiv is a down-to-earth and a sober man who believes in simple living. Pradhanmantri, Kismat etc are other shows in which he appeared.
He was most recently seen in the web series, Laakhon Mein Ek. Rocky Handsome, 2 States, High Jack, Ungli, Hichki, Rahasya etc are among his recent Bollywood appearances. He also acted in highly acclaimed films like Stanley Ka Dabba, That Girl in Yellow Boots etc. He played the role of school principal in 2018 Bollywood film, Hichki, co-starring Rani Mukerji. He played credible roles like inspector Lobo in “Kaminey” and professor Bose in “Teen Patti” earlier.
