Shelly Biography

Shelly Kishore, shortly called Shelly is a south Indian film actress who predominantly works in Tamil and Malayalam movies. She played the pivot role of Vadivu in National award winning Tamil movie - Thanga Meenkal (2013). It was her first Tamil venture. The movie was directed by Ram, who played the male lead as well. Shelly has also acted in television serials. She played the popular role of Shalini in Malayalam series - ‘Kumkumapoovu’ aired on Asianet. She received Asiavision Television Awards twice for best actress for the role of Shalini. She is a recipient of the Malayalam state television award for best actress (2006) for her role in the telefilm ‘Thaniye’.

She was born in Chirayinkezhu, Thiruvananthapuram in 1983 to an engineer and housewife. Her childhood days were spent in Mascot. She has two siblings – one brother and one sister. She dreamt to become a film director. She completed PG in E-Governance. She is married to Kishore C. menon, a production controller of film industry. A son was born to them in 2012. She got television offers through her husband’s friend. She has done small roles in Kerala Café (in ‘Island Express’ directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan), Chattakari, Akam and Bollywood flick - Waiting Room. Her first movie, Kanal Kannadi, was never released. She gained attention as a television actress. She declined many film roles for being less significant and she is willing to portray a 5-minute role if it has something to prove her talent. She has also declined many Tamil serial roles.

The double role in the serial ‘Chitrashalabham’ was her first television appearance. It happened after her debut movie got shelved. She completed diploma in mass media and communication from Singapore and also took a few more degrees before she got active with television.
