Shekhar Dikshit Biography 
Shekhar Dikshit is a social activist and farmer leader from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. This young peasant leader currently serves as the President of Rashtriya Kisan Manch. The president of Kisan Manch Uttar Pradesh, youth general secretary Jan Morcha and Jantantra Morcha etc are some of the positions held by him. He has led several campaigns and took part in a few against government in demand of peasant needs. When Kisan Manch Uttar Pradesh launched a campaign against the laxity of government machinery towards the plight of farmers, it was done in the leadership of Dikshit.
Shekhar Dikshit was born on January 20, 1983 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Since the age of 17, he started working for social activities, linked to environmental problems, tribal issues etc. As a social worker, he started off in around year 2000. He started visiting affected villages of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and started working for them. After that he got associated with many peasant movements. Dikshit joined the Kisan Manch in 2005 under the suggestion of former Prime Minister V. P. Singh. He was a patron of Kisan Manch then.
When he worked as the president of Kisan Manch of New Delhi Unit, he worked for the slum dwellers, and also fought against the acquisition of farming land in Dadri Andolan. He was appointed as the president of Rashtriya Kisan Manch of UP unit in 2008, and two years later it was established as Kisan Manch. He also participated in Anna Hazare Jan Andolan, and served as the convenor of Jantantra Morcha in UP. They conducted rallies focussed on issues like corruption in farmer-related government schemes, their exploitation and a strong Lokpal. Since 2015, under Kisan Manch, they launched many campaigns to help farmers in drought hit areas.
