Sheetal Sheth Biography

Sheetal Sheth is an American actress and producer of Indian origin, and she belongs to the first-generation of Indian Americans. Many of her acting roles have received critical acclaim and international appreciation, and many of her films have been showcased at international film festivals. The World Unseen is her best known performance, which bagged numerous awards at international circuit. In 2009 she received best actress award for the role she played in The World Unseen at Gran Canaria Film Festival, Festival del Mar, Ibiza and Out Takes Film Festival, Dallas. Her lead role in Wings Of Hope garnered her best actress award at Cinevue Film Festival 2003.

Sheetal Sheth was born on June 24, 1976 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. She is of Gujarat origin, and her parents settled in US in 1972, four years before Sheetal was born. At the age of 12, her family shifted to Trenton, New Jersey, where she spent her teens and youth days. She studied multicultural dance and also played basketball and a few more athletic items. She was also interested in acting, and was brilliant in academics. She made her acting debut with 1999 film ABCD, which was shown at many international film circuits.

In the past two decades of her acting career, she has given many award winning performances and has also made a mark in television industry. She gave life to many memorable lead characters on big screen such as American Chai, Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World etc. NBC TV series The Singles Table was her first television series. However though the episodes were shot, it was not aired. Sheth starred opposite Lisa Ray in two lesbian themed films, I Can't Think Straight and The World Unseen, both directed by Shamim Sarif. Both movies have achieved cult status, and she also received a large fan base after the success of both.
